Catalog description

The Introduction to Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment course is designed as an Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) course including asynchronous and synchronous live virtual instruction. The participant experience includes an introduction to Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) utilized in the performance of maintenance activities on biomedical devices. Students will participate in discussions on the material and equipment covered throughout the course and explain the functions of commonly used test equipment, the importance of calibration, traceability, and documentation in the healthcare industry. Virtual Reality. Lastly, the students will be able to set up a Virtual Reality headset and access the relevant weekly VR Lab content using an Oculus Quest 2 headset to test, measure, and diagnose multiple devices in virtual reality to simulate common medical equipment maintenance and repair procedures. Prerequisites: BMET1303, 1305, and BMET2304 .
