Catalog description
This seminar will help mentors implement strategies of peer mentorship and provide support to first-year international students. Class will meet weekly to discuss the role and responsibilities of a peer mentor, share best practices, and learn to identify and address the specific social and academic challenges of cross-cultural adjustment that international students face. Building on their knowledge about globalization and cultural difference, students will develop a more nuanced and targeted understanding of interpersonal cross-cultural communication in the US academic environment.
