Required 1-credit course for TRIP Ph.D. students in their first year. This course serves as an introduction to the program and its requirements, to TRIP faculty and their research, and to the basics of academic research in translation studies. Students will also learn important skills for succeeding in graduate school, begin to plan their course of study, and brainstorm, share, and give and receive feedback on research ideas for current and future projects. Assignments will include presentations, peer feedback, and some short writing assignments including a preliminary plan for future research. This course is limited to TRIP first year doctoral students. Class meets every other week.
