Catalog description

This course, designed for students with dual language skills and an interest in the fields of translation and translation studies, involves practicing translating children’s literature into English. We read translation studies texts as a framework for analyzing and discussing translation practice assignments and projects, thereby providing students the opportunity to apply theory to practice. We consider such questions as: What are the benefits for children to read translated literature from other languages and cultures? How have translators of children’s literature engaged the readers and source culture within the framework and features of this literature? Students render translations from another language into English. Low to intermediate reading knowledge of another language is necessary. Offered regularly.
