Catalog description

This course introduces cultural transformations occurring in the translation of religion, including contact, mutual influence, and transculturation across the globe. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of seminal religious texts, their translations, and translators’ commentary on them, such as the Torah/Bible, Koran, Buddhist works, and the circulation and adaptation of Confucianism. Offered Regularly.
