THEA 326Dance Technique II: Jazz

This is an intermediate/advanced jazz class with an optional certification opportunity. Students will concentrate on learning the theory and practice of the Luigi Dance Technique. The class will work in two sections. The first part will be a seminar, where the syllabus's theory and technique will be analyzed and examined. The remainder will be physical and practical, and students will practice the technique. Routines and combinations will be taught. Students can submit their work from this class to the Luigi Jazz Certification Program for examination. Upon successful completion, they can become registered teachers using the technique. Format: The class meets once a week for a hybrid seminar/ dance class. Students are expected to complete a research paper. Attendance is mandatory for everyone. Prerequisite: consent of instructor. Students should have previous experience in jazz. Prerequisite: THEA 226 and consent of instructor. Students of varied dance experience are invited.
