MUS THEA I: Acting the Song

Catalog description
This course explores the fundamentals of musical theatre song analysis through solo song preparation, and will incorporate acting technique into students’ in-class rehearsals and performances. Students will be exposed to a variety of musical theatre styles, literature, composers, and lyricists, and will perform multiple songs that require them to make performance choices rooted in their analysis of the lyric, score, character, and musical. Basic music skills and singing ability are helpful, but actors without musical experience are also encouraged to take this class. Prerequisites: THEA 207/208 or consent of instructor. Offered regularly.
