Catalog description
This course examines the dramatic literature of the United States since the year 2000, with particular emphasis on the way US-American playwrights conceptualize living in communities, with neighbors, and in politically, ethnically, and religiously diverse contexts. Students will read and discuss plays from Broadway and off-Broadway, learn about the lives and work of major contemporary US-American dramatists, and compose critical responses to these plays based on literary analysis and dramaturgical research.
