Catalog description

This course provides an introductory view into the lucrative and challenging world of Live Events. Students will examine how a live event is built from the bottom up through case studies, current events, and practical planning exercises. Types of live events discussed will include corporate events and industrials, awards/galas, site specific work, wedding and event planning, concerts, production/space rental management and virtual events. Students will work as teams to design and create the paperwork, presentations or concepts required to plan and manage specific projects, incorporating their own background and knowledge as a distinguishing feature to develop their own style. Course content includes managing budgets, researching permits and local ordinances, employment practices, client and vendor relationships, marketing and communication practices and analysis, design aesthetics, technical applications, and logistics.
