This course provides an opportunity for advanced students to refine their unique expressive abilities by merging the art of singing with dynamic acting techniques. Through active exploration, students will enhance their vocal performance skills by focusing on healthy vocal production techniques, including breath support, tone production, diction, phrasing, and postural alignment. Acting exercises will be incorporated to deepen interpretation, emotional connection, and character embodiment within musical performances. Students will engage with solos, duets, trios, and ensembles, applying musical and textual analysis to develop emotionally resonant and dramatically compelling performances. The curriculum emphasizes diverse and inclusive repertoire selections from musical theatre and related genres, fostering a well-rounded perspective of performance styles. Prerequisite: THEA 119: Musical Theatre Singing and at least one semester of THEA 319: Voice Lessons. Offered in spring.
