Findings from neuroscience and psychotherapy research reveal the importance of attachment relationships in constituting both protective and risk factors in the development and remediation of trauma related mental health difficulties. This advanced elective will begin with an introduction to attachment theory and neurobiology. The course will then familiarize students with a range of theories of attachment-based trauma, and will present the latest and best practice approaches that may be used in facilitating recovery.
