Social Work in Health Care

This course explores the vital role of social work within healthcare settings, focusing on the intersection of medical and psychosocial needs. Students will examine the principles, practices, and policies that guide social work in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, community health organizations and many other settings. Topics include patient advocacy, care coordination, ethical decision-making, health disparities, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through case studies and real-world applications, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to support diverse populations across the continuum of care. Students will be expected to complete readings and projects throughout this course. Participation and attendance is mandatory.
