Catalog description

Optimization is the process of maximizing or minimizing a desired objective function while adhering to a set of constraints. It is widely applied in various engineering disciplines, including aerospace, chemical, civil, industrial, and mechanical engineering. Throughout the course, students will learn advanced concepts, theories, algorithms, and techniques related to optimization, as well as their practical applications. A range of optimization problems will be addressed, including unconstrained and constrained optimization, integer and discrete programming, dynamic programming, and nonlinear programming. Prerequisite: SSIE 550, SSIE 553 or consent of instructor. Offered in the Fall semester.
