Industrial Automation Technologies and Systems is a graduate-level course designed to provide students with advanced knowledge of automation technologies shaping modern industries. The course covers the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Digital Twin, and Autonomous Systems, with a focus on their application in industrial automation. Students will explore how these technologies are integrated to enhance productivity, efficiency, and innovation in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, transportation, and smart cities. Topics covered include Sensors and Actuators, Industrial Robots in Automation, Radio Frequency Identification, Industrial Control Systems, Automated Production Lines, Internet of Things (IoT) in Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Automation, Big Data Analytics and Digital Twin for Industrial Systems, Autonomous Systems and Robotics, Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, Ethics, Safety, and Security in Automation. Prerequisites: Graduate Standing. Offered in the Fall or Spring.
