The goal of this course is to both prepare and empower students to apply their bilingual/bicultural knowledge in academic and professional settings. It works as a bridge between the lower-division heritage courses and the upper-division courses on culture, literature, and linguistics. Advanced Grammar for Heritage speakers is a project-based learning (PBL) course, designed to learn by doing. Students will perform learner-centered activities led by inquiry and research of real world issues that are relevant to them. The variety of sources and tools used in their research will allow them to develop critical and integrative thinking skills in their heritage language. Students will also have the opportunity to interact in Spanish with members of their communities, discuss topics of their interest, as well as write, speak, and present about these topics in an academic setting. This course counts toward the Spanish minor and major. PREREQUISITE: Span 213 or equivalent.
