Can social scientists connect research and activism? How does the research process relate to social justice? This course explores these questions. Many scholars have partnered with communities outside the university to develop studies committed to disrupting capitalist, racial, and gendered forms of oppression and exploration. Through their partnerships, they created a rich debate about community-engaged research. In this course, we dive into this debate. Focusing particularly on collaborative and activist methodologies, we explore forms to produce research that contributes to overcoming social problems. Restriction: No freshman. Offered regularly.
