Catalog description

Students will demonstrate how to employ an integrated approach to the teaching of English/Language Arts in diverse cultural settings, and develop an understanding of the application of theories and research related to teaching literature, writing, and English language at the secondary school level. Students will also demonstrate the ability to plan, implement, and assess the effectiveness of lessons, which incorporate the Common Core Standards. Through collaboration and structured discussions intended to elicit a broad understanding of the research and theory in the field of teaching English in the secondary classroom, the above objectives will be met. Co-requisites: SEC 590 & SEC 591. Pre-requisite. SEC 593. Offered: fall.
