SEC 593D is the first of a two-course sequence designed to prepare students for a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Adolescence Education, Grades 7-12. The intent of this course is to provide an opportunity for preservice science teachers to explore theories-in-action related to the who, what, when, where, why, and how of ambitious science teaching within the teaching/learning dynamic. Students will learn the fundamentals of planning for science instruction through curriculum development, planning for implementation, and assessment. Students will become familiar with three-dimensional science standards and learn how to integrate each dimension in their instructional design to support student learning. Offered: fall.
