As artificial intelligence has become a fact of everyday life, with some people turning to AI for spiritual guidance, how do different religious communities conceive of the significance of AI? What kinds of challenges does AI pose for theologians and religious communities? What opportunities do some religious leaders see in engaging with AI? Is AI another attempt to connect with the divine and an expression of our desire to exist also beyond the material world? In this class, we'll explore various forms of AI and examine the deep implications of this technology on historical and 21st-century religions.
