Catalog description
An introduction to women’s pelvic health, focusing on the role of physical therapy in the assessment, treatment, and management of pelvic floor dysfunction. Students will gain knowledge in the anatomy and physiology of the pelvic region, common conditions affecting women’s pelvic health, and evidence-based interventions. Topics will include pelvic pain, urinary dysfunction, bowel dysfunction, pre- and postnatal care, and sexual health. Through a combination of lectures, case studies, and practical labs, students will develop the skills necessary to effectively evaluate and treat patients with pelvic floor disorders, emphasizing a holistic and patient-centered approach to care. This course is an elective and offered in the spring semester, year 2.
