Catalog description
Students will gain an insight into the concepts of health and wellness. Using health informatics and epidemiological principles, health risks, needs analysis and assessment are emphasized in program development. Risk reduction strategies for disability and disease and opportunities for advocacy, including programs for special populations, are covered. This course will include the role of the physical therapist in health promotion and disease prevention across the life span. It will focus on screening, client education, and traditional and nontraditional strategies for the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Students will gain evidence-based knowledge to design and promote an integrated health and wellness approach for individuals, groups, and communities. This course is offered in the spring semester, year 2.
