This graduate seminar explores the psychological impact of trauma on individuals, couples, families, and communities. We will examine trauma's various forms (e.g., physical, emotional, and psychological), its neurobiological underpinnings, and its impact on mental health and well-being. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the process of trauma recovery, resilience, and trauma-informed therapeutic interventions. We will engage with the empirical literature and theoretical frameworks, as well as review case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of trauma.
