Child Behavioral Assessment

Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to expand and develop mastery in the application of behavioral principles and methodology introduced in PSYC 355 Lab in Applied Behavior Sciences, in the context of Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is a seminar course with practicum and students are responsible for assigned readings contents prior to each class for discussion. Lectures cover additional material and students engage in substantial self-directed learning. Examination and application of assessment research in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Focus on functional behavioral assessment and precise, objective, behavior observation as part of the assessment process in the context of applied behavior analytic practice. Emphasis on ethics and professional issues in applied behavior analysis. Students complete the applied experience at the Institute for Child Development. Prerequisites: PSYC 111, PSYC 243, PSYC 344, and PSYC 355. PSYC 355 (B or higher if declaring the Track). Attendance on the first day of class is required. Typically offered in the Spring semester,
