Psycholinguistics This course is a broad introduction to the field of psycholinguistics, where we will explore how people understand, produce, and acquire language. Along the way, we will look at how theoretical ideas in linguistics connect to real experimental data, and what that tells us about the way language works in the mind. We will also touch on related topics, such as how we read, how the brain processes language, and the relationship between language and thought. Prerequisites: PSYC 111 with a grade of C or higher, PSYC 243 with a grade of C or higher, and PSYC 344 with a grade of C- or higher. Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for the course to apply to the major. Course restricted to junior/senior psychology or integrative neuroscience majors. This course will fulfill the seminar requirement for Integrative Neuroscience.
