Second Language Learning This course examines adult second language (L2) learning through the lens of cognitive psychology. In this class, we will explore the various challenges involved in learning L2 vocabulary, grammar, and phonology. Throughout the course, we will investigate how cognitive processes, including memory systems, metalinguistic awareness, and executive function, shape the language learning experience. We will also examine the differences between L2 acquisition and L2 learning to consider what each concept means for developing proficiency inside and beyond the language classroom. *Please note that students who have previously taken the "Foreign Language Learning" course will NOT receive credit for this course. Prerequisites: PSYC 111 with a grade of C or higher, PSYC 243 with a grade of C or higher, and PSYC 344 with a grade of C- or higher. Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for the course to apply to the major. Course restricted to junior/senior psychology or integrative neuroscience majors.
