Witnessing a Crime In this class we will look at the intersection of psychology and one of the most persuasive pieces of evidence, witness reports. From the encoding to the testimony, psychology can inform how much we should rely on this evidence and what we can do to create the strongest and most just evidence. Topics will include other-race identifications, weapon presence, lineup procedure, and more. We will talk about real life cases where witnessing was an important piece of evidence. This means discussing potentially sensitive topics including sexual assault and murder. Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for this course to apply to the major. Prerequisites: PSYC 111 with a grade of C or higher, PSYC 243 with a grade of C or higher and PSYC 344 with a grade of C- or higher. Course restricted to junior/senior psychology or integrative neuroscience majors. The course will NOT fulfill the requirement for Integrative Neuroscience.
