Relationship among psychoactive drugs, their effects on the nervous system and behavior. Main focus is drugs of abuse, particularly illicit drugs, but licit drugs and their medical purposes are also discussed. Psychoactive drugs are examined from a pharmacological, neurobiological, psychological and socio/historical perspective. Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for this course to apply to the major. Prerequisite: Passing grade in PSYC 111 or its equivalent.
