PSYC 243Statistical Analysis & Design

Covers the field of statistical design and analysis as it pertains to psychological research. Begins by covering rudimentary topics such as statistical notation, graphs and tables, then progresses through descriptive statistics, central tendency and variability, Z-scores, probability and hypothesis testing follow. Finally, inferential statistical tests are covered: t-tests, analyses of variance, Chi-square test. Exposure to methods in psychological research by participating in studies conducted by department faculty (for a value of four "research credits"), or equivalent assignment, is required. Students must earn a grade of C or higher for this course to apply to the major. Prerequisite: PSYC 111 with a grade of C or higher.
