Catalog description

This course examines the origins and development of Political Islam, especially as it has been expressed by movements that emphasize the primacy of either sharia as an essential element of governance or external jihad as a basis of accomplishing political objectives. Primary materials written by Islamist authors and secondary materials will be read.
