Catalog description

The choice of whether we study politics at the elite or mass level implies the choice of very different theoretical and empirical tools. This course focuses on elite politics, both in government (legislators, judges, presidents, bureaucrats, etc.) and outside government (interest group leaders, journalists, etc.). We examine how political elites interact strategically with each other and with the mass public in a variety of contexts. Restrictions: Juniors and Seniors (others permitted by Instructor). Offered every two years in fall.
