Binghamton University · UGRD

This course examines the core debates in International Security, with particular attention to how states and non-state actors interpret threats and employ force to achieve political goals. We cover major theoretical foundations such as deterrence, alliances, and the causes of war, alongside contemporary security challenges, including civil conflict, non-state armed groups, and the political economy of violence. Drawing on diverse theoretical approaches, the course equips students to critically analyze both classic debates and current issues in global security.
