Catalog description

PHYS 425 is the classical theory of electrodynamics from the standpoint of Maxwell’s equations; relativistic formulation, radiation theory, boundary-value problems, wave guides, cavity resonators, classical electron theory. Prerequisites: Junior level course in electricity and magnetism (PHYS 331, PHYS 332); Junior level course in Analytical Mechanics (PHYS 341); a course in the mathematical methods of physics (PHYS 271).
