Programming in Physics

Catalog description

Introduction to programming using examples in physics. This course will focus on the use of Python to enhance the understanding of physical phenomena. Topics covered will be basic programming (variables, arrays, conditional statements, loops, functions, strings), advanced programming techniques (data structures, recursion), graphics (plots, animations), Numerical methods (integration, root finding), Monte Carlo methods, simulation of physical phenomena, and statistical analysis of experimental data. Prerequisites are MATH 224/225, MATH 226/227, MATH 323. Offered fall semester.
