Description: Principles of mechanics and thermodynamics, including topics in circular motion and rotation, the universal law of gravitation, oscillatory motion, ideal gas and fluid motion. Mathematical techniques employed include algebra, trigonometry and calculus. For majors in physics, chemistry, math and engineering, and others desiring a calculus-based treatment of introductory physics. No previous knowledge of physics is assumed.
Non-Watson students may request permission if they have completed Calculus l & ll or take Calculus II concurrently, by submitting an online form found at binghamton.edu/physics/resources.
Physics I and II courses transferred to BU must include an in-person lab component. Courses that are completely online are not equivalent to our Physics I and II courses. Premed students should note that some medical schools may not accept physics courses that are completely online.
Prerequisites: high school trigonometry and algebra, MATH 226/227 or high school AP calculus
Open to students with a calculus background only.
