PHRM 595: APPE: Research: The Capstone Research APPE (PHRM 595) represents the culmination of the SOPPS' Capstone Research Program. This 6-week APPE requires P4 students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they work to develop, implement, analyze data, and present a research project. The initial preparation for the research project will commence in the P3 year within Capstone Project Preparation (PHRM 571a/b) or Capstone Project Preparation - Research Track (571c/d). P4 students work with a research mentor who may be a faculty member or preceptors who facilitate the delivery of the APPE curriculum. Appropriate categories for the capstone research project may include (but are not limited to) clinical translational, pre-clinical, clinical or health outcomes research, clinical trials, quality improvement, retrospective chart review or protocol reviews, qualitative, mixed-methods, survey-based, etc. The Capstone Research APPE is allocated for student to potentially complete their research project. Students will be expected to complete any additional research throughout the P4 year (see learning experience for PHRM 587 and PHRM 588). Students are required to develop and deliver a final presentation or poster presentation during the annual Capstone Poster and Presentation Day in the Spring of their P4 year; this final presentation of the capstone research is a graduation requirement (6 credits). Prerequisites: Successful completion of P3 year and all Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences, and PHRM 571a/b or 571c/d. There is a simulation fee of $130.00 and a Rx Prep fee of $629.00 associated with this course. The fees are capped at once per semester.
