PHRM 580F: Jump Start into Residency: This elective course is designed to reinforce and build upon skills necessary for student pharmacists to excel as professionals throughout the remainder of the pharmacy curriculum, including Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs), and their professional career. Throughout this course, students will identify their strengths and personality characteristics that are related to and affect their development of professional skills and competencies, evaluate and effectively communicate medical literature, apply newly published literature and guideline recommendations to improve patient care, and increase confidence about post-graduate residency training. Emphasis will be placed upon short lectures, group discussions, and active-learning strategies, such as small-group exercises, journal clubs, drug monograph reviews, presentations and mock P&T committee meetings.
