PHRM 528: Population Health and Study Design Evaluation This course is designed to introduce students to basic concepts of epidemiology and study designs used in the evaluation of health care technologies. Epidemiological terminology such as risk, hazard, odds and relative risk ratios will be introduced. An understanding of the use of epidemiologic methods in public health will be developed along with an exploration of the use of these methods in effecting health policy. Additionally, students will develop skills in the critical evaluation of evidence-based medical (EBM) literature and identification of sources of bias in published medical literature. EBM literature and population health combined with critical evaluation will be applied to inform clinical decisions at an individual patient level. (
