PHRM 523: Integrated Pharmacotherapy V: Neurology, Psychiatry and Anesthesiology This is the fifth in a sequence of nine Integrated Pharmacotherapy modules with a focus on the nervous system and its diseases and disorders. Basic biochemical, anatomical and physiological, pharmacological, medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetic, clinical chemistry and pharmacotherapeutic principles are integrated and applied to presentation and management of neurological and psychiatric conditions and diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, pain management, headaches, sleep disorders, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and substance use/misuse. Biological and physicochemical principles related to drug delivery and dosage forms used in the treatment of these disorders are covered as well as preparation methods routes of administration. Examples and active case-based learning are used to assist students building skills to solve problems associated with the treatment and management of neurological and psychiatric conditions and diseases.
