PHRM 521: Integrated Pharmacotherapy III: Cardiology This is the third in a sequence of nine Integrated Pharmacotherapy modules with a focus on the cardiovascular system and its diseases and disorders. Basic biochemical, anatomical and physiological, pharmacological, medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetic, clinical chemistry and pharmacotherapeutic principles are integrated and applied to presentation and management of cardiovascular conditions and diseases such as hypertension, lipid disorders, chronic heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. Biological and physicochemical principles related to drug delivery and dosage forms used in the treatment of these disorders are covered as well as preparation methods routes of administration. Examples and active case-based learning are used to assist students building skills to solve problems associated with the treatment and management of cardiovascular diseases and disorders.(
