In this seminar, we will explore the nature and contours of moral responsibility by thinking through various norm-governed ways people hold someone responsible for wrongdoing, relent from holding them responsible, and accept and discharge responsibility. We will consider both individual and collective forms of moral responsibility. Readings will be drawn primarily from contemporary writers working in the analytic tradition.
