Aristotle's writings on ethics and politics are the clearest and most thorough that we have from classical antiquity. They have inspired discussion of moral and social issues ever since 323 BCE to the present day. We will begin with a careful reading of his texts, go on to find their influence in later antiquity, the medieval period, and the development of ethical and political philosophy in modernity. We will finish with a close examination of the role of contemporary Neo-Aristotelianism in value theory of the present day.
