Binghamton University · UGRD

This is a course primarily about education and justice. More specifically, we will focus on social-political concerns about how education is provided and what role it has in shaping individuals and their experiences. In order to think about these things, it will help to have some idea of what education is and what it is for; it will also help to consider how educational programs might be measured and evaluated. The main work of the course is normative and philosophical: to think about the right way to assess educational institutions. But thinking about education is inevitably empirical as well, so you'll have to read about how education works in practice.
