Catalog description

This course will provide learners with a grand overview of the basic knowledge, attitudes, and skills healthcare providers must have in place to educate medical cannabis patients toward successful use of cannabis, while avoiding its adverse effects. The course will cover an overview of the physiology of the human endocannabinoid system, and the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of cannabinoids. The course will explore the federal level of prohibition of cannabis in the United States, the ethical concerns, legal considerations, and relevant historical, social justice, and socio-cultural issues will be explored. Public policy concerns will be addressed. Pre-requisites: student enrolled in a health science or closely related graduate program or by permission.
