Catalog description

Students will explore current issues and concerns in nursing and the delivery of healthcare as they transition to the advanced practice role. Class discussions will focus on present and future problems facing the profession, intra and inter professional relationships and socio-political forces influencing the delivery of healthcare. Legislative and other potential solutions to issues raised will be addressed. The role of the master’s prepared nurses in social, political, legal, ethical, and policy issues will be discussed. Responsibility of advanced practice nurses to their own professional development and career trajectory will also be explored. Prerequisite: Role I and II across all specializations. Corequisite: Role III across all specializations.
