Credits: 4 This course builds on the skills acquired in previous courses to support growth in understanding and implementing therapeutic interventions across the lifespan. Research evidence for best practices in therapy provides the basis for our exploration of intervention approaches. Content includes solution-focused/cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic/developmental, existential/humanistic and trauma processing models, as well as common factors used by effective therapists across all intervention approaches. We will explore the rich world of providing counseling and therapy across the lifespan, including emphasis on assessment and intervention with children, adolescents and older adults, to further your expertise with all age groups. Challenges in providing psychotherapy to culturally diverse populations are also identified and discussed. Opportunities are provided for self-evaluation in terms of professional and personal growth as the above content is explored. The clinical portion of this course requires approximately 8 hours per week for a total of 120 hours in the practice setting. Prerequisite: NURS 563 & NURS 565. (Didactic
