Functional Role II Educator

Catalog description

The course focuses on the design and development of courses, curricula and instruction in nursing education and the relationship between learning theory, learning, teaching, and evaluation in nursing education. Content includes the discussion and analysis of formal and tacit knowledge; classification/taxonomies of learning (cognitive, affective, social and psychomotor) requisite to developing objectives/outcomes. Particular emphasis is given to the implications of ethnicity, culture, gender, and rurality on teaching and learning in order to prepare culturally competent teachers and practitioners. Clinical hours will be spent with faculty master teachers/preceptors developing and analyzing objectives, analyzing teaching strategies, teaching undergraduate nursing students, developing problem-based scenarios, guiding online discussion groups and observation, and analysis of evaluation of learning. Prerequisite: NURS 521 & NURS 556 (FNP) or NURS 511 & NURS 556 (AG) or NURS 541 & NURS 556 (CH) or NURS 556 & NURS 565 (FPMHNP); Corequisite: NURS 522 (FNP) or NURS 512 (AG) or NURS 542 (CH) or (NURS 563 (FPMHNP).
