Catalog description

This course provides the philosophical foundations of education, scholarly teaching and discourse. Content addresses the goals of education, human development, behavioral, cognitive, social and constructivist learning theories, multiple intelligences and the physiology of the brain in relation to learning. Philosophies of education; ways of knowing and thinking; the nature of learning; learning styles; intellectual development; cultural determinants of learning and recent theories about learning will be explored. Curricular models, curricular planning and contemporary curriculum development paradigms in higher education and nursing education will be discussed. Prerequisites: NURS 502, NURS 518 & NURS 600.
