Catalog description
The second course in the Community Health sequence focuses on advanced community health nursing care of the community as clients. Students collaborate with community people/agencies to assess major health needs; identify aggregate groups at risk; and begin to plan primary, secondary or tertiary prevention programs. Community Health Nurse Educator and Administrator students will conduct their practice in community agencies; however the Community Health Nurse Practitioner students will conduct their assessment of patient needs out of their primary care placements and will be giving direct care to patients in their clinical practice sites while collecting data on the needs of their client populations. The clinical portion of this course requires 4 hours per week for a total of 60 hours in the practice setting. Prerequisite: NURS 515& NURS 541(NP) or NURS 541& NURS 556 (EDUC). (Didactic
