NURS 520: This course is designed for non-APRN graduate nursing student (Nurse Educator and Nurse Administrator). Advanced Pathophysiology and Pharmacology Across the Lifespan for the non-APRN student explores concepts from pathophysiologic mechanisms of disease as well as pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of medications used to treat disease. A systems approach is used to examine alterations in the structure and function of the human body that are associated with diseases/conditions, Emphasis is placed on correlating clinical and laboratory manifestations to underlying physiologic or pathophysiologic mechanisms, and making application to pharmacologic modes of treatment. Consideration is also given to the psychological, social and cultural factors that influence the health of individuals, families and cultural groups. This course is not applicable for students seeking APRN licensure.
