Credits: 4 This is the second of three role courses enabling students to socialize into the role of nurse practitioner. Class content addresses nursing strategies and management for family dynamics and health as they pertain to aging and contracting families. Building on the direct care provider, counselor, and educator roles studies in the second semester; students incorporate into the nurse practitioner role the functions of consultant and researcher. Specific individual health needs as well as the evaluation and management of common acute and chronic health problems of aging and contracting families are discussed. Supervised clinical practice to assist students in applying theory and evidence based practice to the nursing management of these families is emphasized. The clinical portion of this course requires 8 hours per week for a total of 120 hours in the practice setting. Prerequisite: NURS 515 & NURS 541 Corequisite: NURS 542 (NP Only). (Didactic
